Statistics - Fire

The statistics found on this page are prepared from data submitted by Nebraska’s fire departments. We are grateful to the fire departments that have taken the time to complete and send in these reports so we could compile this information. National fire statistics may be found at the US Fire Administration's National Fire Data Center Web Site.

In 2000, the state started implementation of the new version of the National Fire Incident Reporting System, NFIRS 5.0. For the years 2000 – 2003, we still allowed departments to report using the previous reporting system, NFIRS 4.1. The NFIRS 4.1 data was then converted to the NFIRS 5.0 format.

Many of the reports that are available on this page were generated from the NFIRS 5.0 reporting system. Other reports were prepared using a combination of the NFIRS 5.0 reports and Microsoft Access and Excel queries using the data. Descriptions of each report are provided to assist you in determining which report may best fit your needs.

Data may vary based on the parameters and filters used to generate the reports. Several reports use the FDID (Fire Department Identification) number. The first two digits of the number represent the motor vehicle county number.
