Transportation of Fireworks

It is illegal to transport fireworks across the state line as stated in Nebraska State Statute 28-1248. This statute provides that it shall be unlawful for any person not licensed as a distributor or jobber to bring any fireworks into the state.

Retail fireworks dealers and display fireworks permit holders should take special note of this statute, because, in the past, some retailers and some display permit holders have traveled to other states to purchase and transport to Nebraska fireworks to sell at retail or to use at a fireworks display. Special attention will be given to prohibit violation of this statute.

Fireworks dealers licensed as distributors or jobbers in Nebraska are urged to inform any potential customers that may not be aware of this probation. Distributors and jobbers from outside Nebraska may not feel compelled to comply with this Nebraska statute. However, anyone with that attitude should be aware of regulatory sanctions that may be imposed for issuance of future licenses. Anyone having questions should feel free to contact the office of the State Fire Marshal.
