All information on the State Fire Marshal’s Office website is believed to be accurate and reliable. Despite these efforts, some pages may contain errors. The State Fire Marshal’s Office assumes no responsibility for the use of the information provided. Information contained on this site should not be relied upon for legal purposes. Anyone using this information bears the risk that the information may be changed and/or updated without notice. The user should check for changes/updates regularly.

The State Fire Marshal patch, the USFA logo that appears on several statistical reports, and any other images and graphics used on this website are not public, unless noted otherwise, and are protected under state law, copyright law and trademark law.

Problems with any forms, web pages or broken links should be reported to our Webmaster. Please be specific as to the nature of the problem.

We have attempted to make our site compatible with all browsers and accessible to those with disabilities. However, there are instances in which problems may occur. We recommend viewing these pages using Netscape Navigator 7.x or higher, Mozilla Firefox 1.0 or higher, or Internet Explorer 6.x or higher. Resolution should be set to at least 800 x 600 pixels. Any accessibility problems should be reported to our Webmaster.

Acceptable Use

The State Fire Marshal’s Office complies with the State of Nebraska Acceptable Use Policy for the State Data Communications Network (SDCN). State IT resources are the property of the State of Nebraska and are provided for the sole purpose of performing state business. Acceptable use of these resources is limited to activity directly related to performing state business. Use of these resources for any purpose other than state business will be considered a violation of State and SFM policy.

The State of Nebraska retains the right to monitor network traffic to identify any unauthorized attempts to cause damage to or manipulate current information on official state websites. Such attempts are prohibited by law and could result in an investigation by law enforcement officials. If such an instance occurs, the State of Nebraska will attempt to identify the offending individual user and monitor the offender’s usage habits.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office respects your privacy rights. We collect information for agency-related business purposes only on this website. Any personal information collected from the website is voluntarily submitted by the user through email, electronic forms or other interactive options that may become available to our users in the future.

All information collected by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal is likely to be considered a public record, which is available for public review under the Nebraska Public Records statutes unless another statute allows that information to be kept confidential.

Our privacy policy applies only to our website and not to sites that may be linked to ours. You should refer to those sites’ own privacy policies to learn how they collect and use information about you.

Our website does not currently use “cookies”. Cookies are simple text files stored by your web browser and are used to enhance our functionality and your browsing experience. None of the information collected identifies you personally, but instead stores a randomly generated identifying tag on your computer. Cookies are commonly used to increase an application’s functionality and stores information such as: a list of forms you wish to download, your browsing preferences, etc. When and if cookies are used they will be subject to the following limitations:

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is not liable for any damages to or loss of your computer, network system, software applications or electronic files; nor is the State Fire Marshal’s Office liable for any damages or loss due to Internet connection and/or service failures, problems, or damages caused by applications owned and maintained by a separate corporation or entity.

Software

In order to view some of the information contained on these pages, it will be necessary to download a free software application from other entities. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is not responsible for downloads from suggested sites. Although we provide links to the appropriate website for download, it is the user’s responsibility to investigate the correct procedure for downloading, installing and using such software applications on your system. Any software licensing agreement you enter into is not transferable to our agency and is legally binding only between you and the licensing corporation.

Problems you encounter while downloading, installing and/or using these applications should be directed to the entity or company offering the product and not to the State Fire Marshal’s Office. If you do not wish to download the necessary software to view our documents and forms, you may contact our Department at (402) 471-2027 and request a paper copy be mailed to you. We reserve the right to charge a fee to cover the cost of producing and mailing the requested material.
